First Ever E-mail Newletter Gets Quick Donation Responses

Not even 45 minutes after we blasted a newsletter e-mail to the ~380 alumni e-mail addresses we have on file, we got 4 credit card donations. Quickest to respond with their wallets were (in this order):

  • Shane Pickett (S’87)
  • Poul Willerup (F’89)
  • Tyler Ticen (F’97)
  • Brian Alt (F’98)

Update (7/25): A couple more guys stepped up recently…

  • David Scotto (S’87)
  • Ed Stone (F’89)

Way to go guys – thank you. Every dollar is going to pay off the re-roofing project that was just completed. But we still have a long way to go.

Time for everyone else to chip in. When we receive checks, we’ll give credit on this site, too.

Here’s the e-mail newsletter, by the way (minus all the fancy photos)… Continue reading “First Ever E-mail Newletter Gets Quick Donation Responses”

Photos From the Re-Roofing Project

It’s hard to see what’s really going on up there from the ground…but here’s proof that there is a big crane in the back yard, and laborers carrying around plywood on top of the House. It’s safe to assume that the re-roofing is being done, too.

According to Brother Brian Flournoy (of RSG Roofing Supply – who donated all the supplies for the project), it’s coming along well. There was a good bit of rotted “soffit and molding” that needed to be replaced…and they’re taking care of that as we speak. According to Flournoy, “…as for the top of the roof and the project, looks good and almost done. It will look great once all of the rotted soffit is replaced.”

Spring '98 Guys Heading to Chico for 10-Year Mark

Congratulations to the Spring 1998 pledge class rallying a trip to Chico this weekend for the 10-year anniversary of their initiation – or of their bid – or whatever. Guys: tear it up at Rileys, of course, but make sure to stop by the House to watch the roof get demo’d. Should be kinda cool to watch all that dry rot come down.

Alumni Ponied Up Two Flights for Undergrads to Attend National Convention

As mentioned in a previous post, we’re trying to send two undergrads to Indianapolis for the 152nd Anniversary National Leadership Conference.

Mark Geenen donated the first flight (for chapter president Adam Shea), using his United miles. Scott Harris just took care of the second flight (for chapter VP, CJ Scott), using a Southwest credit.

Yeah, they’ll be on different flights, but at least they’ll get to Indy and back for free.

New Alumni House Manager Needed in Chico

We’re losing a good man – and an Alumni Board member – up in Chico. Brother Erick Sondeno, who along with Jim Hull, oversaw the entire Cottage re-build in 2007, is leaving Chico. Erick is the Alumni House Manager, but it’ll be a tough for him to be on-site at 630 w. 5th St. very often after he’s moved to his new home in San Francisco.

So, we’re in need of a new House Manager. If you have any nominations, contact us…or send your nomination to the OX List.

Flights Needed for National Leadership Conference

1 Down…1 to Go. Chapter founder, Mark Geenen, booked current chapter President Adam Shea a flight to Indianapolis for the 152nd Anniversary National Leadership Conference.

We’re still looking to the rest of the alumni to help chapter Vice President, CJ Scott, get on the same flight. The two undergrads – Adam and CJ – have volunteered to attend the conference this year. In the past alumni have done what they could to share the cost of the trip.

If you can offer United miles or can book the flight directly, please contact us.

New Alumni Fundraising Task Force

When it rains it pours. After a few months of asking the OX List for volunteers for the next fundraising effort, we got 4 volunteers in a single week. The group has agreed to work together to reach out to alumni, raise funds for this Summer’s house project (we need to replace the roof), and beyond that to put a sustainable fundraiser in place. The group consists of:

  1. Ed Stone
  2. Mark Geenen
  3. Brian D.
  4. Tyler T.

Cherokee Scrivner Donating Soccer Uniforms to the Chapter

From Cherokee: “They are Nike Soccer Shorts. I just have two complete sets of shorts, one Red and white, and one black and white. 15 of each color. I also have black uniform tops to match (XL). The shorts at retail value total around $750, and the 2 uniforms total $70, I figure if nothing else the goal keeper can wear the black top.”
